How to Apply

The admissions process at Feynman School focuses on matching the ability and maturity of each prospective student with the learning environment.

STEP 1: Applicant Criteria

Applicants are considered according to formal and informal measures based on multiple criteria. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • indications of high intellectual ability (no IQ test required for preschool and pre-kindergarten applicants; WPPSI-III required for kindergarten and first-grade applicants)
  • advanced achievement in academic skills
  • higher-level thinking skills
  • appropriate maturity
  • positive social skills
  • creativity
  • individual talents and interests

Age Requirement

Generally, preschool applicants must be 3 years old by September 1 of the year they intend to enroll. In unusual cases, however, a child turning three after September 1 may be considered for rolling admission during the school year, provided a space is available and the child demonstrates readiness.

STEP 2: Testing

Students applying to the primary (K-1) program are required to take the Wechsler Preshool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI-III).

Parents should call providers directly for current fees and/or appointments. Please call Mrs. Susan Gold at (301) 365-1212 or send an email to sgold@feynmanschool.org for more information about local test administrators.

STEP 3: Application

Download and complete the Application for Admission and Parent Questionnaire.

STEP 4: Academic Records and Teacher Evaluations

Download and submit the Teacher Recommendation Form (if applicable).

STEP 5: Financial Aid

Please note STEP 5 may be done concurrently with other application steps. Please contact Mr. Robert Gold at (301) 365-1212 should you have any questions regarding financial aid applications.

STEP 6: Student and Parent Visits

Once we receive your application, we will schedule a meeting with you, your child, the admissions director and a teacher for your child’s age level. During the session we will observe your child. Based on what we see during our time together, the teacher will make an admissions recommendation.
